Making a positive difference in young players

We help every young athlete unlock their potential through inclusive, high‑quality coaching and development.

The Rugby Football League Performance Department believes that identifying players for elite progression before puberty is unreliable. Every young player from the age of 12 should receive high-quality coaching, as all have the potential to progress through the Bulls Talent Pathway.

The Bulls Talent Pathway is an inclusive programme and the first step in the Player Pathway. It is delivered through Club Foundations, Community Clubs, Professional Clubs and Schools, ensuring that every child has access to structured development opportunities.

At the heart of the programme is a comprehensive scheme of work designed for coach education. This includes 24 adaptable coaching sessions that provide holistic development and can be tailored to meet the needs of young players at any stage of their journey.

Working closely with the Bradford Bulls Youth Department, schools and community clubs, the Foundation is committed to raising standards in children’s coaching. The goal is to increase the number of 12 to 14-year-old Rugby League players receiving quality development through well-trained coaches. Community coaches have the opportunity to work alongside professional coaches and players, gaining valuable experience and accreditation. When a community club has two accredited coaches, it can be recognised as a BTP accredited club, marking a significant step in supporting young talent.
